A unique race experience from the usual road or trail running, The Chapman’s Challenge will return on 25 to 27 August 2023 at the Pangkor Laut Resort’s private island in Malaysia. The race is a combination of 3.8km road run around the island, 2.4km through the untouched rainforest and 1km swim in the sea off Emerald Bay before concluding at the Chapman’s Bar.
The exciting event is held annually, commemorating the remarkable feat of the late British Colonel Freddy Spencer Chapman who had swam across the Emerald Bay to safety after hiding from the Japanese army for more than three years during World War II.
Participants can not only expect to be treated with the thrill of adventure and scenic landscapes but, pre-dinner cocktails and a beach barbeque dinner at the prize-giving ceremony at Emerald Bay. Top five finishers will have their times scribed and immortalised on the scoreboard at Chapman’s Bar, and the top three racers in each category will win a stay at the luxurious properties within the YTL Hotels global portfolio.
NORQAIN, an independent Swiss watch brand that is the event’s official timekeeper, will also be awarding the overall winner a 42mm NORQAIN’s Wild ONE Khaki The Chapman’s Challenge 2023 watch. The unique timepiece is part of the Independence Wild ONE collection and features the Pangkor Laut Resort logo and a sapphire crystal caseback.
Adding to the excitement, NORQAIN has also announced a limited edition “The Chapman’s Challenge” timepiece series of only 15 pieces that are available exclusively for pre-order purchases by race participants.
