Polar was the first company to build a compact heart rate monitor for athletes in the 1982, and it is looking to raise the bar again with the new Polar Ignite, which the brand claims is a fitness watch for those who want to push their fitness limits while staying connected in our urban world.
The Polar Ignite measures heart rate from the wrist with Polar’s proprietary Precision Prime sensor fusion technology and tracks speed, distance and route with GPS.
A Nightly Recharge feature measures your recovery every night, and the FitSpark training guide gives you personalised workout guidance based on your fitness readiness.
New on the device is the Sleep Plus Stages sleep tracking monitor, which can track your sleep stages (REM, light and deep sleep) and gives you sleep feedback and a numerical sleep score. The colour touch display with a single button interface and 20 mm interchangeable quick release wristbands give it a contemporary look.
Polar claims that even with all-day heart rate tracking activated, the watch will last for five days between battery charges. With full training mode that utilises the GPS and heart rate monitoring together, the watch will be able to keep going for 17 hours.
The watch syncs with the free Polar Flow fitness app for data analysis, but if you’re already using another fitness app, the good news is that the watch is compatible with other popular training apps too including Strava, TrainingPeaks, MyFitnessPal, and even the Nike+ Run Club, amongst others.
Originally launched in mid 2019 in Black-Silver, White-Silver and Yellow-Black colour combos, the Polar Ignite lineup was recently refreshed with the release of the Rose-Gold and Black-Copper to give you more options to colour-coordinate with your daily life.
Available at S$349 online and at authorised Polar retailers island-wide.
