At the upcoming CSC Run by the Bay taking place on 12th October 2019, you will find a sub-section of runners taking part in the 6km category under the banner of the New Life Run, the culmination of an online fundraising campaign organised by New Life Community Services.
Caleb Gau, one of the directors on the New Life Run committee, explains, “New Life Community Services is a non-profit voluntary welfare organisation committed to serve the community and mentoring youth of today. It is a full member of National Council of Social Service, and our beneficiaries include children from its Childcare Centres, Student Care Centre, literacy programme Steady Readers, as well as those from its character-based programmes that mentor and develop at-risk children to become champions in life.
Our work is sustained by the many volunteers and staff that give their time and resources selflessly. In this light, we have organised fundraising events to seek financial support for our growing work in the community. We currently operate in three childcare centres, three youth hubs, one student care centre, conduct character mentoring programmes, provide casework & counselling as well as financial assistance for needy families.”
Caleb shares that the idea for such a fundraiser came about a few years ago when he saw a New Life flyer promoting their youth mentoring program and other services, and their need to raise funds to support their youth mentoring programs. The CSC Run by the Bay has also adopted New Life Community Services as its Official Charity Partner, and encourages runners to donate or raise funds via the official web portal at https://www.cscrunbythebay.com/charity/.
The New Life Run is now into its third year of fundraising, and they continue to encourage people to form a team of runners and then rally their networks for a meaningful cause.
