The Mizuno Wave Run was held over the weekend with fun for all participants.
The new route that gave runners a chance to run around the lifestyle district of Clarke Quay, and experienced runners looking for variety found the venue a welcome change from the Marina Bay.
Though a small crowd, the participants were all enthusiastic about the event, which took them on a race along the Singapore River. The event started punctually, and participants were flagged off at once at 7.30am, running past quiet Clarke Quay restaurants that would have been busy and crowded with people by late afternoon.
Reception from the participants towards the run was positive, citing the cool weather and new race route as reasons why the event was good, despite some voicing their concern on not receiving the race medal after the event. Organisers have explained to participants that the medal would be posted to them afterwards and while some were a little disappointed on that part, the mood was upbeat. The enthusiastic road marshals that helpfully directed the runners, clear signage, and well-stocked hydration stations helped make the event a success.
The Mizuno Wave Run, held a week before the highly anticipated Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, was a great warm up to the biggest running event of the year and will hopefully continue to keep up its reputation as a small run that keeps itself great on quality.
