The world celebrates International Women’s Day today. While this day is often seen as a day of focal point in the movement for women’s rights, it is also a special day that celebrates womanhood. In spirit with the celebration, RUN SG gets a quick peek into the efforts of some key organization and brands on how they are honouring this day with its own key initiatives.
STANDARD CHARTERED SINGAPORE MARATHON
The organiser of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) is commemorating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2021 with a series of virtual races, challenges, workshops, sharing sessions and content around celebrating women in Singapore over a three-week period from 8 to 31 March. It will be the first SCSM Virtual Club (VC) campaign for 2021 with an aim to rally and shine the spotlight on female runners within the community.
As part of the IWD campaign, there will be a three-week long collective distance challenge available for all runners of the SCSM VC. It will be an open-goal challenge, held from 8 to 31 March, where runners can clock in as many runs and walks as they can to contribute towards the overall community distance. Female runners can also look forward to sweating it out through a series of fun and heart-pumping workout sessions with three respected fitness influencers in Singapore – Sofie Chandra, Cheryl Tay, and Choo Ling Er.

NEW BALANCE SINGAPORE
New Balance Singapore launched its latest campaign featuring Yvonne, mother and national marathoner, and Keyana, professional singer-songwriter - shinning a spotlight on the importance of women’s self-expression and female empowerment.
Sporting the latest model of the FuelCell Rebel and updated colourways of 57/40 in New Balance Singapore’s IWD campaign video, Yvonne and Keyana share their real-life journeys, highlighting the attitude and values that shaped their self-expression, accomplishments, and drive in life. Despite inherent challenges, both women demonstrate the strength of will to seize opportunities ahead of them and chase after their dreams fearlessly.
“Both women are bold and not afraid to challenge the norms in pursuing their dreams,” says Sheena Gan, Marketing Executive of New Balance Singapore. “Just as how the FuelCell Rebel powers a runner’s speed and performance to the best of his or her potential, we hope that their stories will also serve to empower and fuel the courage of women everywhere to be more fearless in their self-expression. While the campaign shines a light on the ways in which New Balance’s athletes express themselves, it is also emblematic of a larger commitment from the brand to create a stage for women to tell their stories throughout 2021, and beyond.”
New Balance will also be having an IWD Sale and a community effort for their PushPullGive initiative, find out more details on here: https://www.newbalance.com.sg/
