The city’s most exciting road race relay is back again this year, with more improvements and updates to the whole experience. The 2019 ASICS Relay series spans four cities this year, starting from Jakarta in June, to Bangkok in August, then to Kuala Lumpur in September then finally arriving in Singapore on 26th October.
Starting from the Bayfront Event Square in the evening, the 2019 edition of the ASICS Relay Singapore will see the introduction of a ‘Buddy for 2’ category half-marathon, designed for smaller groups of two where each member needs to complete a 10.5km distance.
The full 42km distance, for relay teams of four runners, is still up, and based on runner feedback the event has been further refined for a better experience. In between, you have the easily managed 21km relay, where each runner in a team of four only needs to cover slightly over 5km.
The ASICS Relay 2019 is expected to see a turnout of about 1500 teams in Singapore. Furthermore, the winning team of the 42km Full Marathon will be walking away with a grand prize of $1000 and four pairs of ASICS shoes.
Apart from the race itself, participants can also look forward to exciting activities from local partners and sponsors at the race village such as a 180-degree photo booth and face painting will be made available for participants.
Popular Korean DJ Duo, 2 Hearts, will be on site to hype up the crowd with pop music in celebration of the ASICS Relay spirit. As the runners hop between booths at the race village, they can redeem stamps on the stamp card and redeem an ASICS gift upon collecting 5 stamps.
