Want an ‘own time, own target’ kind of run, but taking place at an organised event? The 50 Hours Non Stop Run is here to help you fulfil that wish! This year sees the fifth running of the mass run, which will take place at the Bedok Reservoir Park from 19thApril to 21stApril 2019.
The event is unique in that it to challenges participants to push their limits in achieving a total running distance of 5 laps (21.5km), 10 laps (43km), 15 laps (64.5km) and the maximum 20 laps (86km) at their own pace around the Bedok Reservoir.
The only limit is the 50-hour time duration. It is a non-competitive event and times are not recorded, but laps are counted to ensure that you are running the distance you signed up for, and finisher medals can be awarded.
A finisher medal will be awarded for the completion of 5 laps, 10 laps, 15 laps and 20 laps. This means that you’ll go home with four finisher medals if you sign up for and complete 20 laps (86km).
Even if you’ve never ran a half marathon before, this is a great time to attempt it because you have two whole days to complete the distance. Or go for 10 laps and use it as a stepping stone to run in a full marathon later this year.
Participants who register must select their preferred start time so that the event organisers can spread out the number of runners on the track during the full 50-hour duration. Runners can report later than their registered start time, but not earlier.
There are no time limits to complete each lap, and runners can choose to run any number of laps, take time off for rest, hang out with friends at the reservoir, then come back later to complete the other laps. It’s an event best entered with friends if you like the idea of hanging out under the stars all night. Even if you’re a lone wolf and enjoy the solitude of reeling in the distance alone, there is plenty of space to do so here, and you get the full support of manned hydration stations too. The organisers only request that you bring your own bottle as they are going green, and will not be issuing paper cups for water.
