Raising Visual Awareness with Run for Light

Run For Light continues to raise awareness for the visually handicapped and Guide Dogs Singapore.

RUN SINGAPORE BY | UPDATED 6 YEARS AGO

Four years after its debut in 2015, Run for Light continues to raise awareness for the visually handicapped and Guide Dogs Singapore (GDS).

2019 sees the fourth running of the annual event, this time taking place at the Punggol Waterway Park on 26th January. The event will kick off with a symbolic 1km Blindfold Walk, led by the guide dog team from GDS in the evening at 5.00pm.

100 pairs of participants will be taking part in the Blindfold Walk, where one will be blindfolded and walk along with the aid of a buddy. The exercise aims to help people understand the difficulties that the visually handicapped have to cope with on a daily basis.

It will then be followed by a 5km Fun Run and 10km competitive segment. Over 3000 participants are expected, and there will be activities and a carnival at the Punggol Town Square next to Waterway Point during the evening of the event.

Runners of this year’s event are also entitled to a complimentary return ferry ride to Batam Island in Indonesia (excludes taxes) by Majestic Fast Ferry, which is perfect for that impromptu holiday!
