The Safari Zoo Run is back in 2018, with a vengeance! Started in 2009, the run continues its work to raise awareness for wildlife conservation as well as encourage family bonding through running.
This family friendly run welcomes all, with the purpose of raising awareness for wildlife conservation. This year, the 4 animal icons of the Safari Zoo Run 2018 are representing endangered wildlife species in South East Asia. Ah Meng the Orangutan, Canola the Manatee, Chawang the Asian Elephant, and Sunny the Hornbill are helping raise awareness to conserve animals such as the Raffles’ Banded Langur, the multiple sharks and stingrays, the Suda Pangolin, and the songbirds.
If participants are willing to put in more effort to show their support, the Safari Zoo Run 2018 is also offering two other suggestions:
1) Raise awareness for endangered animals that their team is supporting by taking part in the team Instagram contest from now until the day of the race, and a lucky winner from the winning team will stand a chance to win an exclusive behind-the scenes experiences in the wildlife parks.
2) Donate to the Wildlife Reserves Singapore Conservation Fund (WRSCF) which will go a long way to aid the preservation of wildlife in Singapore. Donations are welcome here!
Challenging yourself to run a certain distance around the zoo to see animals from all over the world, with the bonus of seeing the zoo’s new Ah Meng, would be a great way to remember the reason why the Safari Zoo Run was born in 2009, and celebrate the Run’s 10th anniversary by taking part in this event, with surprises and more fun that will be coming your way!
