If the National Vertical Marathon were a person, it would be a 22 year-old youth, a person of absolute energy and vitality, and still at the prime of its life.
That wouldn’t be an inaccurate statement. The National Vertical Marathon is a race of epic proportions that requires boundless spirit and work, organized annually by the youth of today in the National Technological University’s Sports Club.
The passion has paid off: Last year the event managed to attracted 2,600 participants to join the event, and the organisers hope to get more.
The concept of it is simple: climb up a flight of stairs, then climb up another flight, then repeat the steps until you see a door that tells you that you have reached the top, then move downwards all the way back down. The reason? Nothing more than to raise the profile of vertical marathons in general and increase a healthy lifestyle for all to enjoy,
In a bid to ensure the event remains fresh as ever, the venue will be held in the South Beach Tower, as well as get new participants to make a higher climb up the competition. Because this event also includes defying gravity and lifting oneself upwards, the event promises to be a better marathon to get over.
