Despite the fact that the 2XU Compression Run was set in the beginning of the April shower period of Singapore, as the day dawned, the event did not get rained on.
That was okay, because the crowd was already pretty ecstatic. With the Sundown Night Run happening just the week before, quite a lot of people had a tough time figuring out which run to go for. From what we observed, there might have been a difference in the crowds between the two races anyway. Sundown has a bigger crowd, but runners who run Sundown tend to be of the older crowd, with baby boomers and Generation X.
The crowd in this event was filled with more millennials, which might be due to the fact that since Sundown is a bigger, more established brand that has been around for 10 years, more people would know of it.
Those who might have felt they missed out running the Sundown Night Race because they chose to run the 2XU Compression Run were pleasantly surprised, as the event ran smoothly as ever.
The race route was, for the most part, very fast-flowing, according to those we interviewed. With adequate water stations, well-lit and indicated signage, and ushers to help guide runners, the racers were able to complete their race in time without any worry of any diversions or interruptions.
The race village afterwards was filled to the brim with runners hungry for food after the race, and they weren’t disappointed as they were treated to stalls that served food from A Poke Theory, and isotonic drinks from Pocari.
Runners generally enjoyed their time in past 2XU Compression runs and it can be said that this year’s run was once again, a triumph.
